Automatic Cinema core concept is running in three steps. First, data has to be collected and styles have to be defined. Second, after the interaction with the user, the narration is calculated. Third, the material will be sent to the clients over the network, the show will run.

Flow Chart
1. Collection
First, it's about collecting video, image and text material. Since Automatic Cinema handles narrative structures in multiple channels, the collection process does not distinct between the various media.
To collect material, Automatic Cinema uses the backend of the Rokfor Data Collection Engine with some modifications. Automatic Cinema stores information about the material, the style and evolvement of the story, media specific rules, channels and targets in different data tables.
2. Processing
To process a result, a user has to define an end of a story, and the way the story is told. Additionally, the duration of the story is also up to the users choice. Style and target can be defined either by making a distinct choice from the database or by setting parametrical values. The processing part is done by a server software which connects to the clients over the network.
3. Output
Output is the task of the clients. Clients are responsible to play the material suggested by the serveris it video, audio, text or more. Theoretically, Automatic Cinema can handle many clients on the same time. This makes complex spatial installations possible.
